LOOKING FOR A GREAT GUITAR?
I would like to share some of my experiences while searching for the perfect guitar for me.
In the past year, I've collected several nice acoustics, some standbys like professional line Takamines, Guild, Breedlove, non-mainstream like Bedell. I have several Larrivees, some of which I really love. While considering adding one Martin to my collection, I discovered Wait guitars. There were a few Waits available online, and something about them commanded my attention. I had never seen or touched a Wait before, but I felt a certain connection, from the photos, descriptions, and information I was able to get from Terry at Timbercreekguitars, and later from Joe Wait himself. To consider purchasing a guitar long distance was a leap of faith. It turned out to be the best guitar decision I've ever made. I now have a Wait D-14, a Wait OM-14, and soon, a second OM-14 with different woods. Wait guitars are hand built with the utmost care, understanding of the materials, achieving the right tonal characteristics during the building process, and very highly skilled craftsmanship. Quality materials, excellent playability, full, rich tonal balance, and great sustain. Wait guitars are also beautiful visually. I chose from available Wait guitars, but you can custom order them as well. Bottom line...everyone has their favorite guitars. For some it's Martin, Taylor, Santa Cruz, Collings, Larrivee, etc. All have their special qualities. For me though, I will take a Wait over many of the choices out there. Wait guitars literally make me want to pick them up and play, over and over again. Perfect for personal pleasure, recording studio, or live performance. I have the OM-14 with an optional K&K pick up system. I recommend that relatively inexpensive add-on, which gives you the best of both worlds. I still love some of my other guitars, but If you're uncertain about which guitar to purchase, I can very highly recommend you consider a Wait guitar. I believe you would be as happy as I am, if you do.
